Formal Reception (Dinner/Toasts)
Act 2: The Formal Reception
Your guests arrive to your reception hall greeted by your ushers who happily take their jackets to the coat check, offer a glass of champagne as your Master of Ceremonies leads them to their seats. This elegant greeting is accompanied by your choice of music tailored to your tastes. TJ the DJ is happy to play the role of Host and assist your MC in escorting your guests to their seats. This is a great opportunity to set the mood and show just how unique your wedding is from any other.
- Cocktail Music, client’s choice.
Many people miss the importance of Cocktail music. It provides a backdrop for conversation, sets a tone of the evening with your customized musical choices and adds that finished touch, that you have thought of everything to entertain your guests.
- The Grand Entrance, Choreographed program to whip up the guests to the arrival of the wedding party.
Not just any entrance, more than just a basic “Here is the bride and groom”, but a Grand Entrance. Be as creative as you like or allow TJ the DJ to suggest some ideas to really have people up and welcoming you into the room with a standing ovation. Your MC is welcome to meet with TJ the DJ to choreograph this opening event. Your grand entrance is your cutting of the ribbon ti kick off your celebration.

- Master of Ceremonies Consultations/Instruction.
- Speech Consultation/Instruction
Toasts are one of those the few things couples feel they have no control over. TJ the DJ is a professional speaker and has been the Emcee at many different events and would be more than happy to work with you, your friends and family who will be giving speeches or toasts. From customized intro themes for each speaker to speech preparation and consultation TJ the DJ can help add that flair, keep in good taste and above all timely those speeches that might other wise fall flat, be inappropriate or too long and disjointed to keep your other guests attention. Break the silence with professional assistance to keep your guests in stitches, tears and engaged.
- Presentations, singing, performance, slide/video shows.
It is not uncommon for a surprise slide show or family presentation to tell a story. So let your family and friends know TJ the DJ is there to help make it all it can be with sound and music support which may require special connections, cords, adapters and other equipment. TJ the DJ can supply a Professional high end Projector and Screen for an additional $500.
- Choreographed Formal Presentation. Combing many of the elements above.
Your event will require a professional and polished feel. Preparation and planning are vital to ensure your reception is as flawless as possible. If you have included some Ceremony elements into your wedding package your rehearsal could also include elements of your formal reception so that everyone knows their place and timing. If you do not have an Emcee this is the feature where TJ the DJ plays the role of your host and director. This will require much more time in preparation and comes at an additional cost.
- Custom Voice Over’s, Messages, and/or Presentations.
Everyone gets those “Sorry I couldn’t make it” letters. Unfortunately due to health or cost of travel many people may not be able to attend your special event. A letter or e-mail is simply not the same as hearing their voice, their emotions as they tell you their special messages. TJ the DJ would be happy to record those messages and play them over music at an appropriate time in your agenda. There are many ideas to really make these messages special and touching. You can also have special messages from those in attendance who may be too shy to speak in front of an audience.
- Wedding Games/Trivia
Looking for something fun? Want to see just how well people know you or how you met? For fun or just to break the ice mixing in some fun games that are as fun to watch as they are to play is a great way to introduce your guests to each other. Games are not for everyone and sometimes make for a great Plan B if there is a delay in the program for any reason. Depending on the games you would like there may be additional costs.
- Social Music Clients Choice (Played between end of Formal Reception and Dance usually a 20 min smoke/bathroom break often when tables moved for opening dance floor)
You will want to have two or three breaks for about 15 to twenty minutes. each break can have a different selection of music depending on where in the program it is. After dinner and after speeches is always a good place, allow people to use the facilities, smoke, refresh their drinks and have some time to mingle. Like an intermission, this will help your guests remain alert and reduce their need to socialize during your speeches or other entertainment.
- Cutting of the Cake customized music and/or choreographed presentation
The wedding cake is often more of an after thought in terms of how it is presented. Make it an event by having it delivered onto the dance floor, presented in an elegant way so that your guests can surround you from all angles, rather than being backed into a corner or against a wall. Pick your music for its introduction, presentation, cutting and sharing if that is your wish or be creative and use your own ideas.
- Meetings as required to work on details, confirm cues, songs plan agenda and any other needs.
